Silhouette Soft® has the ability to restore firmness and elasticity to the skin and to achieve a better defined profile.
In doing so, Silhouette Soft® combines two effects: an immediate tissue replacement and a gradual regeneration of collagen.
The effect of the replacement is immediate and discreet. It is the result of the compression of the tissue and the raising of the skin to implant the suture: once inserted, the doctor exerts light pressure on the area treated, thus re-defining the shape of the face and increasing smoothness noticeably.
The regenerative effect is gradual: Poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA), the main component of Silhouette Soft®, is a widely known polymer which has been used for years in numerous bio-medical and pharmaceutical applications, including suture thread, pegs, rods, screws and orthopaedic pins used to treat broken bones. The polymer has excellent bio-compatibility and is biodegradable, which has made it possible to develop these applications.
The small cones in the Silhouette Soft® sutures provide traction and fixing points, a natural physical reaction to the presence of alien objects which is reinforced by the concentration in the formation of new collagen. This action helps to restore the shape and definition of the face and neck.
